Virtual Events in March 2021

I'm excited to be doing some virtual events in late March. I'll be talking about my book, In Pursuit of Knowledge, as well as the archival research project, African Americans in Essex County, that I've been working on for the past two years with Dr. Elizabeth DuClos-Orsello.

On March 25th, from 6:00-7:30pm ET, I'll be giving the Women's History Month keynote at the University of Cincinnati. My talk will focus on the experiences of young Black women students who attended the Young Ladies' Domestic Seminary, likely the first racially integrated female seminary in the early nineteenth-century North.
On March 27, 2021, from 9:00-11:00am ET, I'll lead a workshop for teachers on Essex County's Black history. I'm looking forward to sharing the story of Black Election Day (sometimes called Negro Election Day) in Essex County.
Register here.
I'll be presenting alongside my collaborator and friend Elizabeth DuClos-Orsello. We'll highlight the stories of bold and enterprising Black women that we uncovered in our National Park Service-sponsored research on African Americans in Essex County.
Check us out on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at 1 PM ET.

All of these events are free and open to the public. Join me if you can!
