My Approach

My research on women educators often reminds me of the hardworking educators and mentors in my life who have taught me about the power of critical inquiry while also making the interdisciplinary field of African American and American studies come alive. As a teacher, I aim to cultivate intellectual curiosity in the classroom by engaging powerful texts, emphasizing the art of dialogue and debate, and championing civic engagement.
